project Fearn Avenue

A sensible, sensory development found along a traveller’s route to Margaret River. We designed Fearn Avenue as a set of eight short-stay accommodation units– the extents of which are defined by multiple large, solid walls of rammed earth.

With the opportunity to construct with rammed earth for such a large proportion of the design, we opted to celebrate its construction by leaving the surfaces of the party walls unfinished. The sense of space and enclosure which is felt when surrounded by such dense, raw material is perfectly suited to offering a home away from home.

The interiors schedule was been developed along the same, simple design intent, with volumes of cabinetry  ‘inserted’ and suspended within two parallel walls. The material palette has been assembled to be both durable and restrained– ensuring longevity across a cost-effective, sustainable lifetime.
