project Ferguson House

A young, ambitious client-couple approached Space Collective to design a new family home for themselves and their children in Ferguson Valley, WA.

The brief was simple– fulfil the spatial requirements as defined by the growing family, be daring, and produce something entirely unique.

Felipe Soto, Space Collective’s Design Director, chose to employ a stilted design, with the overall intent to ‘touch lightly’– by elevating the primary structures above the ground, we’ve reduced the overall impact of earth-works, piling and basements on site.

The program consists of a large living space with open kitchen, three bedrooms, a study, and includes a laundry, mud-room and on-site services (water tank, electrical battery, gas cannisters) located in two silo-like volumes below.
