Located above a steeply sloping block with panoramic views to the Indian Ocean, the site is exposed to strong sea breeze and harsh western sun. The dwelling was required to maximise views from the site whilst also providing privacy from the neighbours, with shaded internal and external living areas.

The design was conceived as a tent like veil of battened screen walls to provide privacy and shading to the living areas. The dwelling is configured around two courtyard gardens, optimising natural cross ventilation and options to shelter from the wind.
